We are delighted to note the election of our firm’s head of private client, Mr Gordon Lennox as one of five solicitors elected to represent Glasgow and Strathkelvin on the Council of the Law Society of Scotland.
The Council is our profession’s decision-making body, made up of both geographical and interest group representatives, as well as lay members.
Gordon represents the first solicitor (in our firm’s 35 year history) to have achieved this honour. His appointment will take effect from April 2023.
How best to note Gordon’s background and qualification for the role, than by sharing Gordon’s election manifesto below.
We wish Gordon every success in this appointment.
Macdonald Henderson Limited.
“In seeking election to Council, I do so because I feel passionate about the profession I have come to as a second career.
If chosen by the members of this Council area, I will represent them in an objective and pragmatic way.
Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, I worked in the private commercial sector within the oil and gas/logistics industries, latterly in management roles. I feel that my experience gained in those roles has translated well to the legal profession and to my role as a solicitor. I feel it provides me with a more circumspect view.
As the emphasis within the profession is more and more consumer centric, it is vital that as a profession we are able to adapt to the needs of clients and be flexible in embracing new working practices and methods and at the same time uphold the integrity and first class reputation the legal profession in Scotland has. The recent pandemic has highlighted the need to be able to adapt.
It is important that our profession is represented on Council by people from all areas and backgrounds”.
